A meat thermometer, what is up with that?

Keeping your food safe is very important and yet...
When you prepare your meals, do you use a thermometer to make sure it is safe to eat?  Get it the habit of inserting a thermometer in the center of cooked meat before serving it to see if it is safely cooked through. Cook your ground beef to 160°F * and chicken breast to 170°F. If you love leftover food, make sure to reheat any to 165°F.

*For safety, the USDA recommends cooking hamburgers and ground beef mixtures such as meat loaf to 160 °F on a meat thermometer. However, whole muscle meats such as steaks and roasts may be cooked to 145 °F (medium rare), 160 °F (medium), 170 °F (well done).
