1-1/2 pounds of lean ground beef or ground turkey (0 carbs)
One 28 oz can of Hunt’s Crushed tomatoes (63 carbs)
One 24 oz jar of Prego Traditional Italian Sauce (65 carbs)
2 Tablespoons of Italian seasoning (0 carbs)
1 teaspoon of salt (0 carbs)
1 teaspoon ground pepper (0 carbs)
Brown the meat and drain the fat as much as possible. Add the rest of the ingredients and cook on low for at least a couple of hours.
This is an easy and amazing flavorful spaghetti sauce. You can add ¼ cup of a good red wine to bring it to the next level. This easy recipe makes about 8 cups of sauce totaling 128 carbs. This will give you a serving size of ½ cup with 8 grams of carbs.
Note: For the industrious weekend chef, you can make your own sauce without using the Prego. However, we have found that this is an excellent base sauce that we build on, and it has the best flavor for a quicker result. Two other ingredients that can be added to this sauce for even better flavor are finely chopped pepperoni and fresh chopped basil. Neither of these items will add any extra carbs to your sauce.
